The original cover for "Twelve Angry Men" which was only released in tape format and included a version of the Clash's "Train In Vain". |
FLEET STREET "Twelve Angry Men"
Another good release by a band that will be new to a lot of our readers. "Soldiers Lament" kicks off side one in spectacular fashion, powerful lyric, competent musicianship and above all else, grace. A good version of The Clash's "Train in Vain", two tracks which would make for a decent single. "Fighting Back" and "Land of Mountains" brings side one to a pleasant if not overly exiting finale. Side two literally explodes with four superb compositions written by Dave Fletcher. "It's All the Same", "I Hope Your Boat Sinks", "Don't Keep Me Hanging On" and the title track, "Twelve Angry Men" owe more to Paul Weller than a little. Well worth hunting for, you won't be disapointed. EMPTY HOURS - Issue 21
FLEET STREET "Twelve Angry Men"
An excellent first recording from the Portsmouth based band, especially as the band were still to make their live debut. The band have quite an original sound which is somewhere between power pop and 60's beat with "Fighting Back" and "Don't Keep Me Hanging On" being two of the best songs featured. IN THE CROWD - Issue 28
FLEET STREET "Twelve Angry Men"
Fleet Street have recorded and 8 track tape which is now available and which should prove popular among ex Jam fans. The short punchy guitar lines and vocal style are very reminiscent of Paul Weller and the boys, but there is enough originality in the songs to give the band their own style. Also included is an excellent version of 'The Clash's' "Train in Vain".
