When Kompanie1 was founded it was with the intent that the emphasis was to be on the social aspect as this is just a hobby for ordinary people with a similar interest. Making people welcome and feeling at ease is top of our agenda because who wants to go away for a weekend and be screamed and bawled at and be threatened with 20 laps of a field in full kit? If you want that then join the army or another group. Maybe it is this mix of friendliness on the one hand and our authenticity in battles on the other hand that has made us so popular on the UK re-enacting scene.
As well as our usual events which include battles, public displays and training days, we also like to lay on the occasional social evenings where members can turn up, with wives or girlfriends if they wish, and have a meal, a few drinks and a laugh.

The two founder members of Kompanie 1 had an idea of the type of group they wanted and so far things have exceeded their expectations as in nine years Kompanie 1 has risen to be one of the most popular and successful re-enactment groups on the UK scene as the size of our membership proves. Other groups have come and gone or stagnated after years on the scene, but our philosophy of treating members with respect not contempt and other groups with respect not contempt means we can now enjoy our hobby, even more so after we ourselves were treated with fear and curiosity at our beginning and told we would never last a year!
